Israel Wineries

Wine making in Israel had been dormant for millennium, until Baron Edmund Rothschild decided to kick start it in the late 19th century. Two decades ago the industry exploded with new wineries. Israel wines have gone beyond sweet kosher wine as the wineries produce award winning wines and achieving world class rankings. There the large wine producing most of Israel's 30,000,000 annual bottles as well as many boutique wineries.

Israel now boasts world class wineries in every region of the country from the Golan wineries in the north to the Negev Desert wineries in the south. Wineries dot the country from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River totaling more than 350 wineries spread over 5 main regions in all, with many sub regions.. Israel's varied soil and climate within its small borders makes for a wide variety of flavors and tastes coming form this small country.

Being a relatively new industry in a world where many wineries have traditions going back for centuries, each winery has its own distinct character and taste and each has amazing story to tell about its journey from startup to success.
